Marbella is situated on the western Costa del Sol, at the shoreline of the Mediterranean Sea, between Málaga, the strait of Gibraltar and the mountain range of the Sierra Blanca.
The municipality of Marbella is very well connected via the National Road N-340, the Autovía del Mediterráneo A-7 and the Autopista del Sol AP-7, which connect the city with Estepona, Algeciras and Gibraltar to the west and Málaga city and Málaga International Airport to the east.
The Airport Málaga is situated 52 km on the AP-7, which is a forty minutes drive from Marbella. Within a two hours drive are as well cities the Granada, Córdoba, Cádiz and Seville.
Towards the interior lead the roads A-397 towards Ronda and the Serranía de Ronda mountain range; and the A-355 towards Ojén and the Sierra de la Nieves mountain range and the Guadalhorce valley.
Marbella is the only municipality in Spain with more than 100.000 inhabitants that doesn´t have a railway station in its territory. The closest suburban train station is situated in Fuengirola, 27 km away; the Train Station María Zambrano for long distance trains is situated in Málaga, 57 km away.
